Prostate Cancer
There are no specific symptoms for prostate cancer & they mimic Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia. Only difference is hard Prostate or Rectal examination with elevated PSA level.
Investigations Prostate Cancer
- Serum PSA level more than 2.5 ng/dl.
- Standard twelve core TRUS biopsy.
- Multiparametric MRI pelvis with PIRADS -II scoring.
- Contrast CT scan abdo + pelvis for visceral metastasis.
- Chest x ray or HRCT diagnosis, staging and chest for lung metastasis.
- PSMA PET scan for follow up.
- Bone scan
- MRI spine if suspected spinal cord compression.
Treatment of Prostate Cancer
- Surgery - Open, laproscopic or robotic radical prostatectomy.
- Active surveillance in low risk patients.
- Immunotherapy in castration or harmone resistant cases.
- Harmonal therapy directed to reduce androgen level and their effect GnRH analogue Antiandrogen synthesis inhibitor - docetaxel.
- Chemotherapy in advanced and metastatic cases.
- Radiation therapy.
